ConservationTrack® was developed in 2003 by The Nature Conservancy to manage monitoring of the over one hundred conservation easements it held in California at that time. In 2006, The Nature Conservancy determined that it was more cost effective to contract out to manage the application.  Outsourcing maintenance and later hosting to Essention Group has enabled other Nature Conservancy state programs to more easily use the software and insights championed in California without having to start anew at each chapter. Today, ConservationTrack is used by land trusts across the country to manage their people, processes, and information, allowing the land trusts to more effectively and efficiently fulfill their ultimate conservation missions.
